Keurbooms River Ferries boat cruise:
Is an unforgettable experience and a wonderful excursion for the whole family. Take a relaxed tour up the Keurbooms gorge that is thousands of years old and lined with ancient indigenous forest. The Keurbooms Nature Reserve, is home to over fifty bird species. The incredible natural surroundings are paired with a narrative of fifteen years of experience traveling this river to give you a complete picture of your surroundings.

Experience the majesty as the Ferries glide over shimmering waters, through souring gorges of the unspoilt Keurbooms River Nature Reserve.
Celebrate an eco-experience and savour the sights and sounds unique to this splendid area. – Surrounded by cliffs of Table Mountain Quartzite (TMQ) to which indigenous flora cling precariously. Stop and hear the sounds of lyrical birdcalls and view our mammal species from this majestic river.

Our qualified skippers and guides will point out and identify the rich diversity of bird life occurring along the river, the ‘nursery’ areas for many fish species, the specific habitats of the land mammals, and the intricate workings of the indigenous forest.
Once our 5km destination has been reached, we stop on a natural formed river beach where you are able to explore the forest up close by strolling through pristine canopies of towering Yellowwoods and other indigenous trees, where after you can relax on a soft sand beach touched by tranquil amber waters in which you can refresh yourself before our return to civilization.

Particulars of ferry:
Keurbooms River Ferries abide by the rules of Western Cape Nature Conservation as a river cruise operator. The ferries are registered with the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) and abide by all the laws and regulations regarding safety equipment on board. All the skippers are SAMSA qualified. All guides are SATOUR registered and have undergone a training session with Cape Nature Conservation. All the ferries are fully insured with public liability. The crewmembers have undergone a valid First Aid Training course. Each ferry has a carrying capacity of 30 persons.


Bathroom facilities are available on the riverbanks.

Jackets are advisable in the winter period. Hats and a bathing suit in the summer period.

Bar Facility:
There is a cash bar available on board that consists of beer, wine and soft drinks.

Departure Time:
Daily scheduled trips depart at 11h00; 14h00 and sundowners. ( only during summer months)
Seven days a week (including public holidays)

The Keurbooms River Ferries depart 6km from Plettenberg Bay, travelling towards Port Elizabeth on the N2. Directly as you cross the Keurbooms Bridge there is a turn to the left into the Keurbooms Nature Reserve. The road will bring you back under the bridge into the parking area. (The parking area is accessible to all coaches.)
